Instructor
The purpose of this course is to help middle school students learn and practice effective study skills that will prepare them for the challenges of high school. During this week long class, students will learn organizational skills, time management techniques, and note-taking strategies. They will also acquire study strategies for taking tests and quizzes. Participants will use computers and designated websites to practice creating outlines, graphic organizers, and study sheets. In addition, students will focus on reading comprehension skills in terms of gaining information from texts and taking notes from textbooks. By being introduced to a variety of study skill strategies and practicing them with individualized supervision, students will be better prepared for classroom instruction and for identifying the study strategies that will be most effective for them.
