$150,000 Matching Gift Opportunity

We are so thankful for this dollar-for-dollar matching gift from the Alice and Russell True Foundation that will go toward the Covenant Fund (our financial aid program which is a part of our operational budget). We are excited to assist current Fourth School families in providing their children with a Christ-centered education. The matching gift runs from September 1, 2010 through December 3, 2010. Please prayerfully consider taking advantage of this great opportunity. You can contribute directly online here: www.fourthschool.org/giving/onlinegiving.aspx. Be sure to designate your gift to the Covenant Fund. Thank you for your support!

Fourth Parent Association

The first FPA Meeting will be on Friday, September 10 after Morning Assembly. If you are a parent, you are part of the FPA! Please plan to attend this meeting and find out ways you can get involved at Fourth School. Any questions? Contact Betsy Johnston, FPA President, at pejohns4906@verizon.net.

Moms-in-Touch

Moms-in-Touch meets every Friday, beginning TOMORROW, to pray for our school. Meet after Morning Assembly in the conference room in the Art Building. For more information contact Kato Gilbert (katogilbert4@yahoo.com) or Jennifer McIntyre (oneblessedmom@verizon.net). Please join us!

Over-the-Counter Medicine

If you wish to give permission for the Fourth School staff to dispense over-the-counter medicine (i.e. Motrin, Jr. Motrin, Benadryl, etc.) to your child(ren) as necessary during the school year, please fill out the form in today’s folder and return to your child’s homeroom teacher as soon as possible. We must have this written permission before we can dispense any non-prescription medication to your student.

Uniform Closet

Fourth Parent Doug Shawley has generously offered to organize and run a Uniform Closet for our school community. The Closet gives the opportunity for families to share uniforms that may be outgrown, but are still wearable. Go to www.fourthschool.org/campus-life/uniforms/index.aspx to see the current available items and prices. You can contact Doug directly (314.435.1827 or dogjam123@yahoo.com) if you wish to take part in this beneficial program.

Stay for Play Parking

If you know you are going to stay after school with your children to play, please park in the upper lot. This helps keep the flow of dismissal traffic uninterrupted.

Late Pick Up Reminder

Any student who is picked up AFTER 3:20 PM will be placed in After School Care. A $30 late pick-up fee will be assessed to the family.

Peanut/Nut Sensitive Campus

Due to the possibility of a life-threatening allergic reaction that affects children with peanut allergies, Fourth School is a peanut/nut sensitive campus. Peanut or nut containing products will not be served at any all-school gatherings or events. Lower School parents will find the specific restrictions (dependent upon the needs of any student(s) in their class and/or grade) for their child’s classroom in their teacher’s newsletter.

Chapel

Our 2010-2011 chapels will continue the theme of "Learning and Living the Faith" while focusing on the gospel of Mark. Pastor Corey Gray’s talk yesterday was on Mark 1:1-8.

Grocery Store Program

Our school is participating in three grocery store programs this year: Giant, Safeway, and Harris Teeter. If you have given your numbers to Linda Yau in previous years, she will sign you up unless you tell her otherwise. If you haven't signed up in the past, please email Linda at ltl6@yahoo.com with your 12 digit Giant card number, 11 digit Safeway number, and/or Harris Teeter VIC number. If you prefer to sign up yourself, go to http://www.giantfood.com/ and link the card under A+ Bonus Bucks. Safeway cards are linked at http://www.escrip.com/. Harris Teeter's website is http://www.harristeeter.com/ under "Community." Thank you for your help!

John Murray Teaching at Fourth Church

Mr. Murray will be teaching a class entitled Hollywood Meets the Apostles’ Creed on Sundays at 11 AM, September 12-December 12, at Fourth Church. This class will examine how the doctrines in the Apostles’ Creed – God the Father, Jesus the Son, the Holy Spirit, etc. – are portrayed in the media. The goals are twofold: (1) to gain a better understanding of these biblical doctrines and how today’s popular media presents them (both negatively and positively), and (2) to share principles of discernment to help better engage friends, teens, and others with a message that is biblically consistent and culturally relevant.

Strep Throat Notification

If your child has a positive strep test, please let Karen Janes in the main office know at kjanes@fourthschool.org or 301.765.8133 as soon as possible. This information is a great help for a family here at Fourth School. Thank you so much.
