Missions

Operation Christmas Child

Each fall, students at The Fourth School participate in Operation Christmas Child.

The school kicks off its fall missions project in October with a special chapel service that introduces students to Samaritan's Purse and its Operation Christmas Child ministry. According to Franklin Graham, the founder and president of Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child provides children around the world with gift-filled shoeboxes at Christmas and the opportunity to hear the Gospel through Christan literature and follow-up discipleship programs.

Students learn about the critical role they can play in touching lives--first by preparing shoebox gifts during the month of October, and then by praying for the boys and girls who will receive them.

The shoebox gifts are collected the first week of November and dedicated at a special Fourth Friday Assembly. The Christmas gifts are then delivered to over 100 children around the world with the love of Jesus Christ.

Fourth School Run

The run was created as part of the school’s chapel themes of brotherly-kindness and “honoring one another above yourselves.” Building off of these attributes, Fourth’s students were encouraged to focus on others in need. All funds raised from the school are donated to the Cornerstone Schools of Washington, D.C., a K-8 Christian school set in D.C.’s southeast neighborhood.

In preparation for the run, students are asked to obtain sponsors who will pay them for each lap they complete around the track developed on our school’s campus. Students run in three different groups: Pre-K, Lower School (K-Grade 4), and Middle School (Grades 5-7).

Fourth students have done an amazing job in the two years this event has been held, raising $10,494.33 for the Cornerstone Schools! These funds have helped Cornerstone to provide scholarship money to their students. We are thankful for this opportunity to further our relationship with our friends in Washington, D.C.
