The application process includes the following: completion of an application form (available online), a pastor's recommendation for applicants who are not active members of Fourth Presbyterian Church, and an interview with the Principal.

Applicants for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten are administered an age-appropriate in-house placement asessment. Applicants for Grades 1-5 are administered the Woodcock-Johnson III Tests for Achievement and Cognitive Abilities. Students applying for Grades 6-8 are asked to complete the Woodcock-Johnson III as well as the TOWL-3 Test of Written Language. A non-refundable application fee at time of application is applied toward these assessments.

The prospective student may also be asked to join a grade-appropriate class for one or two sessions when an application is received during the school year.

Applicants must have at least one parent who professes the historic Christian faith as described in the Apostles' Creed, have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, a firm belief in the sovereignty of God, and prove active participation in a Christian church.

Students must show a willingness to develop Christian character and to work up to their ability.

A student's academic needs must fall within the range the school is equipped to address. The primary goal of Fourth School is to provide a superior Christian education to our students.

Children must be 3 years old by September 1 of they year they enter preschool, 4 years old by September 1 of the year they enter Pre-Kindergarten, and 5 years old by September 1 to enter Kindergarten.

Applicants will be granted admission based on placement assessment results and classroom availability. There is a rolling admission process as long as there is classroom availability.

If a grade is filled to capacity, students who have completed our admissions evaluation and testing process and have been deemed qualified are placed on a waitlist until an opening occurs.

Upon acceptance, each family is assessed a non-refundable registration fee which will be applied to tuition for the upcoming year.

Evaluation Process

Our evaluation process is designed to determine each student's potential for success within the academic standards of the school. Assessments and an interview with the Principal are arranged through the Admissions Office after the entire admissions package is submitted and reviewed.

Interview

The Principal meets with each applicant and his or her parents. The interview is scheduled after your initial application is submitted to The Fourth Presbyterian School.

Assessments

A Teacher Assessment and Insights form and a Parent Assessment and Insights form are included in the application package, which is available upon receipt of the initial application to The Fourth Presbyterian School. Current or former teachers will be asked to complete the Teacher Assessment and Insights form. Parents will complete the Parent Assessment and Insights form.

Student Essay

Applicants for K-Grade 2 will complete a picture essay assignment. Students applying for Grade 3 and above will submit an essay. Student essay information is included in the application package.

Placement Testing

As part of the admissions process, applicants for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten are required to take an age-appropriate in-house placement assessment. The Woodcock-Johnson III Tests for Achievement and Cognitive Abilities are administered on campus for applicants to Grades 1-8. Both these assessments are designed to help the school determine placement and increase the school's understanding of your child's aptitudes and abilities.
