Conversational Spanish language skills are introduced through songs, drama, and games. Historical and cultural study of the Ancient Aztecs and Mayans is also introduced.
Conversational Spanish language skills are continued from Kindergarten through songs, drama, and games. Historical and cultural study of the Ancient Aztecs and Mayans is focused on, along with language skills.
Second grade adds more complex vocabulary and grammar from first grade and are introduced to the alphabet and writing skills. Historical and cultural emphasis is on Central America. 
After three years establishing a good foundation of basic vocabulary and grammar, third graders are ready for their first Spanish textbook, Spanish is Fun. They also receive their own Spanish-English dictionary to practice important translation skills. Correct pronunciation is emphasized as students practice how to create their own advanced dialogues and how to present them in front of the class. The class goes through Spanish books together to practice reading and writing skills. During the cultural unit, third graders study South American history and culture.
Continuing in their textbook, Spanish is Fun, fourth grade students focus on learning advanced vocabulary and grammar. Critical thinking skills are emphasized as students read stories in Spanish with partners and discuss them as a class. This curriculum focuses on recognizing parts of speech, correct spelling, pronunciation, and reading and writing in Spanish. Going a step further in fourth grade, students continue their study of South America’s diverse countries.
