Physical Education
The physical education program at The Fourth Presbyterian School promotes physical, emotional, spiritual and character development in a safe, fun and enriching environment, and is based on the premise that God has given us the wonderful gift of our body. We are charged with the responsibility of taking care of that gift. Our goal for the PE curriculum is to use games, sports and play as a method of developing a legacy toward a healthy lifestyle.
Naturally, all PE activities are geared to the appropriate developmental level of the students. We study body movement and explore the issue of safety for each class.
Students are presented with a variety of sports and cooperative games that spark interest and ability. In cooperative games we focus on the interaction between students and work on conflict resolution, trust, character development and communication.
Games include, tug of war, trust walks and various forms of chase. Sports activities include, soccer, softball, basketball, volleyball and scooter board games. Through sports we explore healthy competition, sportsmanship, teamwork and sports knowledge, as well as personal fitness. Each year our students participate in The Presidential Fitness Awards Program.
We also offer after school activities including soccer, softball and golf for both boys and girls on our beautiful 30-acre campus.
