Our spelling curriculum encourages our youngest students to write freely, using sound/invented spelling, while moving them into correct spelling through guided writing, guided reading and the intentional teaching of “sight words.”

For our Grade 2 through 5 students, accuracy in spelling is taught through focused instruction in the writing curriculum and through use of spelling textbooks. For some grades, our Houghton Mifflin Reading series also includes a spelling curriculum.
