Welcome to the Media Center
The media center at The Fourth Presbyterian School is a key strength of our rich, literature-based interdisciplinary curriculum. The mission of the library program is to ensure that students and faculty are effective users of ideas and information. We accomplish this mission by providing access to a dynamic collection, by stimulating interest in reading and using information, and by working with the faculty to provide learning experiences that encourage students to become critical thinkers.
Fourth maintains an outstanding library collection in terms of not only its size, but also its range and its extensive integration with the school's core knowledge curriculum. Our current collection of over 5,600 items is built around the curriculum and provides materials in various formats to meet the educational needs of our students. Library instruction helps our students to develop strategies for selecting, analyzing and synthesizing information. Lessons designed jointly by the librarian and classroom teacher enrich curriculum goals and encourage students to apply information independently and creatively.
